Hofstra Triumphs Over SUNY Old Westbury in Season Opener
Sophomore Jean Aranguren delivered an impressive performance with a career-high 25 points as the Hofstra men's basketball team dominated SUNY Old Westbury, winning 89-62 in their season opener. Fellow sophomore Cruz Davis contributed significantly with 19 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds, showcasing his efficiency with no turnovers in nearly 30 minutes of play. Hofstra had a balanced scoring effort, with five players reaching double figures, including junior Jaquan Sanders (15 points), freshman Joshua DeCady (11 points), and sophomore KiJan Robinson (10 points). The game saw Hofstra close the first half on a 6-0 run, tying at 34, before exploding in the second half with a 21-0 run that set the tone for their commanding victory. Robinson also achieved his first career double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds. Amadi Lee-Kane led the Panthers with 11 points, while Jaden Flemming added 10 points and six rebounds. Hofstra's next game is against Iona on Friday.
